Resource Consumption - Process Statistics
This data can be found on the Combine via the Cloud Migration Dashboard > Resource Consumption data export.
Our system aggregates collected process data into weekly and monthly summaries once more than seven days' worth of data is available. By normalizing processes and rolling up daily data points into weekly and monthly summaries, we significantly reduce data volume while preserving key metrics, enabling efficient storage & analysis.
Here's a breakdown of our data roll-up methodology:
-
Process Normalization:
We simplify and standardize process names to represent the base process. Applications, especially web browsers and other multi-threaded tools, often run multiple instances of the same process. Our system consolidates these into a single, unified entry to avoid duplication and provide a more accurate picture of usage at the application level. -
Data Aggregation and Consolidation:
For each base process in the roll-up period (weekly or monthly), we perform the following steps:- Maximum Elapsed Time: We add up the highest daily recorded elapsed time from all instances of a given process within the period.
- Maximum Run Count: We take the maximum run count across all instances of the process, ensuring that the roll-up accurately reflects the peak activity levels for that application.
-
Roll-up Intervals:
Data roll-ups are performed for:- Weekly: Aggregates daily data points into a weekly summary once at least seven days of data are available.
- Monthly: Aggregates weekly data points into a monthly summary for a more comprehensive view of the data over time.
